Q: Please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello everyone, I am Kimberly Barfield, but you can call me Kim. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. My profession is a police officer, but I am so much more besides my hours spent behind a badge and uniform. I am a mother, wife, Airbnb Superhost, and a lifestyle and travel influencer. I am an ordinary woman trying her best to attain everything her heart’s desires. I want to inspire others through my lifestyle. I hope that women (and men) can look at me as a reflection of themselves and say, “If she can do it, so can I.”
Q: What inspired you to become a police officer?
I was inspired to become a police officer because I have enjoyed solving problems and investigating things since childhood. In addition, I’ve always been a leader, so naturally, it only felt right to choose law enforcement as a career path.
Q: Do you or have you ever faced any challenges as a female police officer?
I’ve been in my career for eight years now. But honestly, I don’t feel like I’ve faced that many challenges, or maybe I don’t remember because it’s been a while. But I feel like I do my job/task as well as any man can, and I’ve proven it.
Q: How do you find balance being a mom, wife, entrepreneur and police officer?
Sometimes it gets hectic, but I always find a way. I take care of home first — being a mom and wife — and then everything else comes after. Also, my husband helps out a lot, and he’s also my business partner. Honestly, I couldn’t do it all alone; I’d probably lose my mind.
Q: Out of all of your roles, which is your favorite and why?
My favorite role is to be a mom. My children are my legacy and a reflection of me. I just love watching them grow.
Q: What inspired you to get into real estate investing and to become an Airbnb Superhost? Any tips or advice for those wanting to start out?
I wanted to earn additional income, and I realized I was making more money doing Airbnb vs. renting. So my advice is just to DO IT!
Q: You inspire lives daily through your Instagram stories. So what is the best part of it all?
I believe the greatest satisfaction as an influencer is knowing you may impact someone’s life. Whether in police work or on social media, I always try to uplift or be positive to everyone I come in contact with, whether through a post, story or reel. So when I receive DMs from someone saying, “This made my day” or “Thank you for being so transparent — I can relate,” it feels amazing to know I may have helped someone.
Q: How do you want to improve yourself next year? Do you have any specific goals for the rest of this year?
I want to continue to become a better me, both mentally and physically. I take on a lot of tasks being a mom, wife, entrepreneur and police officer, and sometimes it can be overwhelming. I just want to relax this year and improve from within, like a reset. If I become a better me, everything else will fall in line, but that’s the first goal for me — just a mental reset.
